Music Birthday Party Theme

Invitations
Send out invitations with any of these music-themed designs and you'll get a standing ovation:Notes, Musical Bars, Instruments, Radios, CDs.

Decorations
Create a festive, music-themed atmosphere by setting up a special area where the kids will perform. You can create stage curtains by running a thin rope from one side of the room to the other, and hanging drapes from the rope at the point where the performance will be. This creates a sense of excitement as the performers behind the curtain prepares to entertain guests. Add musical party decorations around the room to add pizzaz. Now have the children lip-sync and dance to their favorite tunes.

Activities
Hire a professional musician or DJ if possible, unless a family member or friend can perform or play party music. Before the show, keep guests entertained with a variety of recoreded music geared toward their age group. After the show, ask the DJ to demonstrate how to perform one simple dance, so guests come away having learned something they can repeat at home.

Snacks
Part of the fun here is not so much what you serve, as what you serve it in. Offer guests drinks in mugs that make musical notes. For snacks, try classic Rock N Roll diner food such has hot dogs, fries and sundaes.

Cake
A cake in the shape of a musical note or instrument makes for a delicious treat that's no trick to make! Start with a large rectangular cake, then cut it into the desired shape.

Goody Bags
Shop your local party store for plenty of small, inexpensive music party favors and items to fill your guest's goody bags. Lots of puzzle-type items will work well, too. Before filling the bags, decorate them with stickers and rubber stamps in the shapes of notes, performers and instruments.

Thank-you's
Match your thank-you notes to your invitation, or choose a complementary design. Teach your child good manners by allowing him or her to sign their name to each note. Also, don't forget to mention what the gift was that you're thanking the person for -- and how much your child enjoyed it! For a final nice touch, place a musical note sticker on the envelope to remind partygoers of their special day of music.
