MELTED CRAYONS MOLDS

Crayons "melting" is not exactly the first thing that comes to mind when we picture one of our favorite childhood artistic moments. But crayons are! And they can be so much more fun for your child if they are melted into different shapes, whether it be hearts, or letters or character shapes.

Get all the paper off of the crayons by letting them sit in a bowl or bucket of cool water for awhile. You can sort the crayons to melt by color, if you have a desired color for one mold, or melt different colors together to see what happens. Different colors should appear in different areas of the mold if not overcooked, not just one, muddy color.

Now take the cookie molds that you have chosen and cover the bottom of each cookie mold with a couple layers of foil. Let it bend up inside the cookie mold about halfway up too. Make sure there are no holes in the foil. Fill the molds halfway up with the crayon pieces that you have chosen. Use crayon pieces that are about 1/2? in size for this. Bake the crayon molds in a preheated oven at 300 degrees between 5 and 7 minutes. Let them melt enough so that they mix a bit, but not so much melted that they become one liquified color. Remove the molds from the oven and let cool for about 30 minutes. They should now pop out of the molds and then you can remove the foil. We think you and your kids will love these!
